Checking where your listing ranks in search

Find your listing's exact position for any keyword on eBay UK, US, Australia and Germany.

Updated

The Rank Checker tells you where your eBay listing appears in search results for a given keyword — across UK, US, Australia and Germany. It scans up to 2,000 results and returns your listing's exact position.

How to use it

  1. Go to eBay Rank Checker.
  2. Enter the keyword a buyer would use to find your product.
  3. Enter your eBay item ID (the number in your listing URL, e.g. ebay.co.uk/itm/123456789012).
  4. Pick the marketplace (UK, US, Australia or Germany).
  5. Click Check rank.

The tool returns your position (e.g. #47 out of 200 checked) or tells you your listing wasn't found in the top 2,000.

Daily limits

Each plan includes a set number of rank checks per day, reset at midnight UTC:

  • Trial: 3 checks per day

What "not found" means

The checker scans the first 10 pages eBay returns for the keyword — up to 2,000 listings. If your item isn't in that range, the result is "not found". This can mean:

  • Your listing ranks beyond position 2,000 for that keyword.
  • The keyword doesn't match your listing's title or item specifics well.
  • The item ID is wrong — check it against the URL of your live listing.

Try a broader keyword (e.g. "bath mat" instead of "bamboo non-slip bath mat 60x40") to see whether your listing appears at all for more general terms.

Tips for improving your rank

  • Optimise your title. eBay's search uses your listing title as the primary signal. Use Title Builder to find the exact words buyers search for, then check your rank before and after updating the title.
  • Complete item specifics. eBay's Best Match algorithm favours listings with full item specifics (brand, size, colour, material, condition). An incomplete listing ranks lower than a complete one at the same price.
  • Competitive price. Price is a strong ranking signal. If well-optimised listings rank above you, compare prices.
  • Check different keywords. Your rank varies by keyword. Find all the terms buyers use for your product and check each one.
